Today is the last official day of winter...and there was much rejoicing! So now it's time to get rid of our indoor snowman!
What am I talking about? Along with our eye-grow planter, we've been taking care of a Grow-a-Head snowman.
The Grow A Head planters are made by the same company as the Eye Grow planters, but are larger and have a glass bowl body instead of a plastic mouth cup.We found this snowman Grow-a-Head all by itself in a clearance bin right after Christmas. There are a lot more variety in the Grow a Heads than in the Eye Grows but I'm not sure what stores carry them.
Once again they are available on Amazon.
Actually there are many more of these available on Amazon than the Eye-Grows. What makes the Grow-A-Head planters better is that they have individual personalities.
You can get one as an animal like a penguin, dog, tiger, goldfish or ladybug.
You can get them as an occupation like a fire fighter, police officer, teacher or nurse.
My favorites are the sports ones - basketball, football, golf, baseball, tennis and more.
I selected 27 of my favorite designs and put them on my Amazon store if you would like to see what they look like.
One word of caution if you decide to grow one. The beginning set-up is the same as I outlined in the Eye-Grow post, but I had trouble getting the rope to wick up the water correctly. I either didn't soak it enough or the head is so much bigger that the capillary action had trouble getting started.
Anyway, I didn't discover the problem at first and only a few seeds germinated in the beginning. Our snowman's "hair" was pretty thin at first!
It looked funny didn't it? After I got the wick action working, the rest sprouted and it eventually filled in. Although I'm not sure why a snowman would have hair. The other Grow-a-Heads make much more sense.
So now that winter will be over tomorrow, it's time to melt the snowman!
Happy Spring... almost.
