I guess my friends and family know me pretty well because for Christmas this year I received quite a few gardening/nature/cooking related items.
Wow! I hope to show each item in a series of separate posts to prevent me from writing one super long (and maybe boring post). I'm not sure which gift to start with so I'll first show you the gift that totally took me by surprise. It was Eco Nuts Organic Laundry Soap .
The tag reads "Laundry Soap Nuts are 100% Natural. They will safely and effectively clean your clothes, leaving them fresh and soft without any harsh chemical compounds. Laundry Soap Nuts are economical and easy to use, even if they are ugly." Pretty cool, huh?
After researching them online, I found out they are the nuts (or fruit) from the Chinese SoapBerry Tree. They work because they produce saponin which is a natural biodegradable hypoallergenic detergent. Laundry Soap Nuts are also called soapnuts, soapberries, Chinese soap berries, wash nuts and laundry nuts. One Soap Nut company, NaturOli, says that "Soap Nuts are possibly the most significant Green Innovation in History for everyday household cleaning needs". They have many other soap and cleaning products made from Soap Nuts.
After giving our Eco Laundry Nuts a try, I will get back to you in a future post with much more information.
I am pretty excited about the possibilities!
I love soap nuts! I've been using them for a little over a year and am finally at the end of the largest bag Laundry Tree sells. I use lavender essential oil on the bag when I'm washing towels and sheets. I hope you have a positive experience when them!
